Lent 2 – Power Untied by Service

John 13:1–17

In the upper room, Jesus kneels. The One who knows his authority lays aside his robe and washes feet. This week names the binding of status and misused power—the subtle ways we cling to influence, control, or position. Jesus redefines greatness not as dominance but as downward love.

Holiness looks like humility embodied. As we reflect on where we hold power too tightly, we are invited to practice a way of life that frees others instead of protecting ourselves. The church becomes most Christlike when authority becomes service in motion.
